Just spent 4 hrs polishing....
...and am about half done. I got my PC this afternoon at about 5 and got to work. I didn't realize it would be so much work! I was able to get rid of all of the swirls on the front of my car, the roof, and one of the sides. It took one pass with an orange pad w/ poorboy's sr2.5, and one pass with a black pad and some sr1. I will finish up the rest tomorrow when I get off of work, then wash the car to get rid of all of the polish dust. Then throw down some sealer.
I'm a little disappointed thought that I was not able to get out the fine scratches and bird etching that I was mostly concerned with. I guess I'll have to go with some wet sanding, or something more aggressive. I'm curious to see how it looks so far in the sunlight.
One side done

Light scratch on trunk lid

after

Couple of finished pictures

how do you like the poorboys polishes? i am stuck on menzerna polishes so havnt used the poorboys ones, but have heard good things about them.
before the sealer be sure to do a alcohol wipe down 50/50.

I'm not sure if it is normal for polishes but they seemed very dusty. There was so much dust that I actually had to wash the car again before I sealed it since the 50/50 wasn't enough to wash all of the dust off.

try spraying some water on there with a squirt bottle and going back over it again. That is the same setup i will be using when i do my car but ill be using the synthetic purple wool pad first than the orange and such. Ill be sure to post pics as well
I used pad priming spray, but the polish just turned to dust and sprayed EVERYWHERE. I should have sprung for more expensive polish.
the pad priming stuff means nothing to what i said. i said pray water on the car, water is abrasive when used in that context, it will increase the cut ability of what your using.
i realized this when i was buffing my friend's car, which had a dam layer of water spots. using water with the rubbing compound made a huge difference
yeah ur probably using too much product. I never used poor boys but in my experience, anything with diminishing abrasives will create a lot of dust. with tat being said, Megs M105 would be ur best friend. since day one I fell in love with it. with m105 you can work the compound till the desired results and in my experience sometimes 105 leaves an LSP finish. and it even does miracles and european clearcoates.
none the less looks like you got the hang of it. good job!!!

Your work looks good though! Theres a point where one must say to themseleves, "thats enough, I know theres still some swirls or scratches left, but I wont minimize clear coat protection for the sake of swirl removal." And if you dont realize this rationale, your setting yourself up for a huge downfall, down the road. Hondas, and Acuras are NOTORIOUS for clear coat failure, if neglected or severely minimized.
