Default 2004 Acura RSX for $8,000?

Hey everyone,

I am thinking about buying an aggressively driven 2004 Acura RSX for $8,000. Do you guys think this is a good deal? I know the car was aggressively driven because I have rode in the car with him before and he drives like a maniac.

The car is black, stock, and has about 60,000 miles. The car is the base type with an automatic transmission.

Please let me know what you think! Thanks!

I wouldn't buy a beat up auto... auto trans are no fun to fix... manual trans are much easier. But I wouldn't buy a base auto period..... So for me NO

I don't know much about fixing auto trannies. But I bought my 04 Type-S for $8,700. It had 145,000 miles on it. But then again it was babied and is a manual. Its completely stock. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Do not offer advice if u do not know what u are talking about. It will be a poor investmemt to buy a beat up auto base rsx for 8k!! Regardless of it sounding like a "good deal"! Save ur money and buy a type s.

The irony of this statement.

So if a person wants to buy a car for $8k and is looking at getting an automatic, your logic is to tell them to save more and buy a more expensive manual car?

If the car was driven poorly as you admit it was then it should be a no brainer to pass on it. Shopping around and not being attached to the first car you see is the key to buying a vehicle. Not only does it give you negotiating leverage on the price but it gives you time to shop around.

For $8k there's a slew of cars you could find that are probably better maintained.

maybe you should learn how to comprehend better...i said it wouldnt be a sound investment to buy a beat up auto rsx...i suggested to save and buy a type-s since there are less problems with a manual, not to mention the type-s just being a better investment all around! and if you read the post before mine the guy found a type-s for only $700 more than what the OP is looking to spend on the beat up auto rsx...

Yes, and his had only 85k more miles on it and is a manual. What's your point?

If a person is looking at buying an automatic car for a certain price, then someone suggests they buy a more expensive manual car where is the comprehension on that person's suggestion?

It's like me telling you to buy a cheaper automatic base RSX when you want a Type S.

i would say no.. might be able to find a better deal
there is a type s around here for 5100, some minor left rear damage and of course the descritopn says it has the 3rd syncro disease

and to nahonda ya maybe the non type s model 5 speed model but there have been alot of 6 speeds with problems (my friends has one) that pops out of third all the time

because its a better version of the car and you can find it for relatively the same price, regardless of miles the type-s is still a better car, within reason of course....besides he can always not take my suggestion and just find another auto rsx but in a better non beat up condition...just trying to offer some insight on options the OP has rather than settling for something they may not be happy with in a couple months....i mean who knows what the OP has planned for the car...what do you have planned OP???

3rd gear is notorious honda syncro problem, you can say that about a lot of honda's...its not just specific to the type-s...btw just for OP info, i have an 02 type-s with no gear problems what so ever! yes 5 spd rsx would be another option for the OP to consider but if the OP does plan to mod the car he would be limited in power he would gain from the base model hence why i suggested a slightly more expensive model of the car....just my .02

where did the op mention anything about modding? maybe he doesn't care about power? don't be so quick to assume.
