free. well if you want the vtec head you will usually have to pay. but most people will give them away. you just have to find some one. i got my d16y8 free except for the head

so if i wanted to rebuild the motor(make it new and more reliable) can i just get the block and use my OLD vtec head? *********or should i get the entire low milage long block?

i am rebuilding the one i got for free. using stock pistons but adding LS rods. everthing else stock. i will also use my stock head. should come out to about 300-400 bucks. including new oil pump, water pump, ls rods ($10), machine work, clutch. if you can get the whole thing, so you will have less down time. but if you have the time just get the bottom end it is cheaper that way.
