Last nite i was driving home and i was in the freeway doing about 60-65 mph... then all of a sudden the gear came down to almost neutral without anyone touching it... well.. i tought it was weird so i poped it back to 5th gear and kept on going ... two minutes later the same thing happened... so i had to drive home holding to the shifter so it wouldnt go back to neutral... what can be wrong??? gears 1-4 seem to be fine... Well.. i should let you guys know that i changed the tranny and the cluth yesterday... one thing i didnt do was check the transmission oil... which im gonna do right now.. but what could be wrong???? any help will be appreciated...

same thing used to happen on my old Si tranny. turned out to be low on Fluid. ifthats not it sounds like bad synchro's.

 

Well.. i think its low in fluid because i used that tranny 6 months earlier but i took it out because i had a 90-91 tranny.... so i know the synchro's are good.. so im gonna go check the fluid.. im almost sure that there is almost no fluid because it was sitting outside my house for 6 months and i didnt add any fluid when i put it back in the car......

This is becasue of low fluid.

 

Yeah, low fluid. Mine did same thing in 3'rd. Filled it up, problem gone.
