Default OEM ballast re-wire nessecary?

Well my passenger side HID went out a couple weeks ago and I bought another relatively cheap kit with a one year warranty. I installed the passenger side ballast and the new bulb and flicked my lights on after I reconnected the battery and they didn't turn on. After speculating the problem and trying almost every possibility I'm thinking at this point it's either the wiring or OEM female piece that is corroded. Before the passenger side bulb went out it would sometimes come on randomly and then go out again but finally just stopped working altogether.

Has anyone ever dealt with something like this? And my second question is did you just replace the OEM female 3 prong plug thingy or did you re-wire the OEM wires that run to the OEM plug piece? I don't know much about electrical so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this since I already got a warning for my one headlight and I have a month to get this taken care of.

Side note: Another thing that's weird about the new set is that the part that plugs into the ballast and runs to the OEM piece is different from the kit I already have in the car. The new set I bought doesn't have the actual 3 prong plug piece that plugs into the OEM plug part it's just the wires and the metal tab pieces on the end. I just plug these right into the OEM piece? It came with direction but the text and pictures are so vague they can be translated many different ways.

Thanks in advance for any help on this

The wires with the metal tabs at the end basically slide into your OEM headlight plug. I had to zip tie mine because they were so loose. This was before my retro. I just told another bout the power/relay wire harness. You should look at purchasing a power/relay wire harness. This will eliminate those wires. With the harness you have a plug for your relay that plugs into one of your OEM headlight plugs. The rest is run from your battery to your ballasts. This should eliminate your issue unless there is some other underlying issue.

well that's definately an option. I'm wondering though if my OEM piece is so corroded that it wont matter if I get a relay. my old ballasts had what you're describing. could I just use those? then where would I run the wires with the tabs that seem to be connected to the bulb? just let em hang somewhere?

edit: ill take a couple pictures later so I can be more specific about what exactly I'm talking about.

Ok you have the connection that runs from your hid bulb to the ballast which is seperate from the wire harness. The wire harness has a plug that you connect to your OEM headlight plug for your relay. Then on the wire harness is 2 power wires that you connect to your ballasts. The wire with the tab you have to remove so to connect the new power wire from the harness. The rest of the harness connects to your battery as in the red to power an black to ground. The only thing that plugs into your OEM socket is the 1 plug for the relay. It is more secure and solid. But if your OEM plug is corroded you will need to fix that first. So in all you will eliminate 2 power wires with tabs an only connect to one OEM plug for the relay. The rest of the harness connects to your battery an ballasts.
