drag race results :(
so went too bandimere speedway in golden colorado today for the first time! i had never raced before but i removed all interior, changed to some steelies and lowerd front tire pressure by 10 my cars first run was 17.810 2nd was 18.414 3rd was 17.641 so i guess i just thought gsr's would make like 15s maybe 14 but 18? and i know how to drive my car but wow i guess im just use to seeing turbo cars all i have is header and intake im just dissapointed can someone tell me whats wrong
high altitude thats why. bandimere raceway is over 5500 ft above sea level. its very hard to go fast all motor in colorado. my old ls powered civic ran 14.9's-15.1's at sea level, and when i moved to colorado, it ran 16.7's. don't feel bad, it'll take a ton of money to go fast n/a out there which is why most just boost.
I don't care about sea level, 18's is absolutely hideous. There is something seriously wrong with your or you're a hideous driver, I'm guessing the first part though.
And with over 3k posts mr. Beeks, I'm not taking your post seriously, but wtf does it mean?? You can take off 10 minutes late, or early and your 1/4 time will always be accurate.

My 93 LS with a generic chipped p28 ran consistent 15.4's. Stock intake, stock header, stock exhaust.
Full interior, horrible alignment with both toe and camber, and all season tires.
This was winter time in PHX, AZ.
How many miles are (supposed to be) on your motor? Do compression and leakdown tests. Find out if it needs rebuilt. Also do you have a GSR transmission? Because having an LS or even a 5 spd B20 tranny could slow you down quite a bit too...
I agree with above ^ high 17's to low 18's is ridiculous for a GSR teg no matter what the altitude. Unless it's a b17 in a DA? but still....
I'm not blaming you for the timess until you come back with a list of answers to my questions. I have faith.

Post your time slip or the numbers. I'm getting mid-high 14's in my GSR. It has I/H/E and a tune, 170whp and 124wtrq.
What was your 60' and trap speed?
Don't take the air out of your tires next time.. I used to do that, and was getting slightly slower times. I stopped when an old-timer seen me letting air out in the staging lanes. He told me when you drop air on street radials, you have a less contact patch and lose traction.

You sure? I ran a 15.4 at 90 with my b17 in my 92 GS. headers and 2.5 piping thats it full interior no carpet. but i just got a 97 itr head and installed ctr pistons with a tripple layer head gasket, aem fuel rail 68mm throttle body and aem short ram intake.. im hopin for a good 14 maybe even lower if i can get some steelies

If he posts his number trap speed he can calculate it here

or here

Also maybe their can be driver improvement or the fact he let street tires that have a stiff side wall down to 10 pds which most likely hurt his time instead of helping, but he also did not mention if his car is bone stock or what mods may be done.

Judging by the 60' foot.. You just need some more seat time and get familiar with launching the car. 2.7 '60 ft is horrible.. Racing on steelies with what kind of tires? Exactly how much tire pressure were you running?
I managed to pull 2.0 '60 fts with falken azenis quite a few times.. If you can get that '60 ft down to a 2.2 or 2.1 your car will run a lot better times.. right now it's all driver error.

wow those are pretty bad #'s... If this altitude stuff is that serious i'd suggest going to a lower track, make your numbers look a little better.. LOL
true i posted a thread about how to go about racing this **** some guy told me to rev to 4000 and steadily release clutch kinda fast but i got major wheel spin and that was my worst time yet but like i said i need more practice its an adrenaline rush tho haha i pulled up to race my heart was pumping all fast like a vtec engine ughhhhh LOVE THIS ****

yeah it takes practice but as far as launching what you should be trying to do is finding the rpm where when you release the clutch the engine doesnt bog... too low an rpm and the engine will bog... too high an rpm and you will get wheel spin
