DA rear trailing arms on a DC?
Hello all, I've searched up and down about this but haven't found anything related.
I'm really just making sure I am not going crazy... I did a rear disc conversion on my EJ1 using the rear suspension from a DC2 (95) I found in the local "pick your part" yard. The conversion went off without a hitch.
So now I am doing a full energy suspension bushing kit and I've also picked up the rear trailing arm bushings. Both the EJ1 and the DC2 use the same kit for this. I remove all the rubber from the stock shell on the drivers side. I go to press the ES bushing and and the thing literally drops in without any force at all. And then I can take it out again by hand. Also the pin is too big. Anyway, come to find out that the DA rear trailing arm bushing has a larger OD and ID, so it seems the drivers side trailing arm is from a DA.
I pulled both arms off the same DC2 so hopefully this is the case for both sides, I just have to measure the stock bushing to make sure when I go back to work on it again. If not then I guess I need to get another trailing arm for the passenger side from a DA.
The car was obviously modified (though totaled and nearly stripped when I got to it) but my question is, are there and DC2 owners out there that have purposely put DA rear trailing arms on their car? What is the purpose/benefit in doing so? Or does this seem like it was just a "only thing available at the time but it will work so go with it" swap for a damaged trailing arm.
**** I just hope the passenger side is the same, I'd hate to have "mismatched" suspension in the rear. Please let me know what your thoughts are.
