Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum. I just got a '00 Civic EX coupe and the antenna was broken off of it.

I purchased a replacement antenna off of ebay and I'm trying to install it but I encountered a problem. I disconnected the antenna from the back of the head unit, tied a piece of rope to it, but when I try to pull it from the top, the antenna cable doesn't budge.

Any ideas on what's keeping the cable from moving? I've done a search, and everything I've read says to just disconnect the cable, tie the string, and pull.

Btw, I've seen people say they have an EK or EG, what does that mean?

I had to replace the antenna on my '92 DX, but I'm sure the process is similar. I couldn't pull out the antenna from outside until AFTER I crawled under the dash and worked the wire first out of the 'horizontal' section of getting from the pillar over to the radio. There's all kinds of sharp edges and other areas where it will get stuck if you just try to pull from outside.

You DO need the rope/string/wire attached before you start routing back through everything, but you have to at least get a lot of slack so that when you pull from outside, it's basically already unwound from everything under the dash.

and with civics, the first 2 letters or prefix of the chassis number describe the year and shape: EK = 96-00 hatchback/saloon, EG = 92-95 all shapes, EJ = your coupe (i think)
