Default Machine was interior carpet?

Just got done ripping out the interior of a 94 Accord LX I picked up recently. The carpet (as well as ALL of the interior) is disgusting. I was wondering if I could vacuum it out and just throw it in the washing machine to clean it up. I won't dry it in the dryer, I'll hang it up and put a fan or two on it.

Will I have any trouble with it warping or even falling apart?

You might have a hard time getting the form fit carpet into the washing machine. But if you can get it (as well as the rest of the interior) in there you shouldn't have any problems with warping, shrinking or falling apart if you are going to hang the stuff up to dry.

I would really bet you'd have better luck asking this in the detail section.

I had no luck cleaning a civic carpet with a pressure washer and soap. More and more dirty water kept coming off it for a good 15 min. I would think its easier to get a new one at the junk yard in better condition.

Mine sort of held water when I sat it flat on my drive way. I poured in a bit of Simple Green degreaser mixed it up with some hot water. Then scrubbed it with a good stiff brush. Let it sit for 10 minutes, added more hot water and scrubbed it again. Then you rinse with a hose or pressure washer until the water becomes clear. It really shouldn't take that long unless your weak and don't know how to scrub.

If you are one of those unfortunate folks who have to pay for your water. It might be cheaper to take your carpet to a DIY car wash and hit it with tire degreaser and a pressure washer for a few minutes.

You were asking about machine washing that's the only reason why I didn't say anything about how I cleaned mine with simple green degreaser, a bit of elbow grease and a 1600 karcher pressure washer.

I scrubbed two of my carpets with baking soda after soaking them with a pressure washer. My carpet looked like it had a mud castle building competition held on it.

I don't have a pressure washer, that's why I was asking about the washing machine. It seems the simplest. Put carpet in, pay $1.50, add detergent, detergent booster, all fabric bleach, bam, new carpet.

Is the carpet glued to the padding underneath?

it seems like the car wash idea is the best since u don't have a pressure washer. take it all out, roll it up the best u can, wash it there n use the vacuum they have there to get off the excess water, roll it up n take it home

simple green >* when it comes to getting nasty stuff out of ur carpets and since the water is somewhat heated at the carwash, it will be very effective at removing the simple green. Smell will last 3-5 days
