95 Civic 5 speed now has high vibration at 3k....
Guys, the bearing begain singing way to loud to continue driving my orignal 5speed. So I bought a use 5speed from one of those supposedly low mileage Japan car imports from a California importer. The swap went well with no stand out problems. The tranny sounds, shifts great with no leaks. BUT, at 3k I get a vibration that was not there before. It begins to fade about 3300 and about gone at 35 up. Any ideas as to what I may have done incorrectly or missed checking out ? This was my first swap and went by the manual. Only deveation I took was I did not have to pull the drivers side cv axle, as it stayed while I slipped the tranny towards the pass. side. thanks to all for any thoughts.......
a noise vibration or can you feel the vibration in the wheel? if its the first check your heat shield on your exhaust or cat heat shield.
It was a tranny swap ONLY. When the tranny noise first began I thought maybe it was a throw out bearing .....so I installed a kit with new plate, clutch and release bearing. That was not it, but I had no vibration or any new problems. I drove quite a while until I could get the "new" tranny from JDM. NOTHING else was changed or done differenly but install ment of the tranny. I have put quite a few miles on the tranny and it is still vibrating the drivetrain/steering wheel at 3 K. I think it must be in the tranny......
