crx and 4g's are they all pieces of chit?
hey guys. Ihave looked at a few 4g's and noticed that teh build quality isnt as good as teh 5th gens? is this the case or where the 4g I was looking at abused?
the one u saw was fucked up then
i have a nice 4G with good bushings, suspension **** and my friend has a 91 Si HB with a great suspension setup.... he is one fast SOHC .. for being an Si he is one quick ****.......... we ran against a 5G HB that itson our club and the handling of the 4G came better........... also if u ask me the older the car is the most abuse it can handle..... our car its lighter than a 5G....... 4G and CRX's are the most wanted car right now..... look for example at this board..... we wouldnt even bother be here if they werent good cars..... honda made a nice car on 4G and 2G crxs...... they started the whole H import scene if u come to think about it........ i will show u some nice 4G that will make u drool ...... specially some nice CRX's that kick assssssss.

they all suck....
j/k... they may have a little less build quality than the newer ones because of the type of machines used to build them... and such.. but they shouldn't be that bad.. they are abused a little more.

i just found that when the window is rolled down and the door is closed the fkiing windoe rattles in the door. maybe it was the suspensio bushings but even a nice dropped suspension w/ tokicos and some springs still rattled everythin in the car.. I wasnt real impressed maybe i will keep my 5th gen hb.

You can't have a perception or an opinion on only one car, right?
Mine with the window completly down w/koni yellow & H&R race,I can't hear the window in the door.
The only complaints I could make,it's that the body is really not that stiff.
That will change when a 6 point cage will be in.
Btw,2 gen Rex Si.So with a sunroof and a smash in front and in the back.(Happens to other driver's before me!)

I know this for a fact, though...when I compare the driveability of my 99 DX coupe to my 89 CRX Si, the crx is much more driveable. In other words, I can stand it much more. Easier to launch, cruise, roll down the passenger side window by leaning over, and definetly more fun to drive. Hell, the driver's side window in my '99 is impossible to roll down or up, while the windows in my CRX are perfect!

I have tested a total of 3 cars. none of them make me want to give up the hb.
You said that you have driven 3 and that basically you think they are all ****. Do you want me to beg you to buy a 4th generation civic?
To answer your question no they are not all pieces of ****. As far as the structural integrity I can't say, I have never driven a 5th generation. However, I wouldn't be suprised that a car that is 4 years newer has less rattles.

I have one of each. I have a stock 91 Si hatchback (actually its my GF's) with 170,000 miles, and a 1992 hatchback with a 110,000 miles, and I think the 91 is far superior in every category, except... ease of B-series swap and number of cupholders.
The 5th generation is more of a refined car, but the 4th generation is hands down more fun. To me, the 5th generation is where you start to loose sight of why people mod hondas. The original attraction was cheap, light, cars that you could zip around people in. The 5th gen looses that feel totally. I have more fun in the stock 4th gen around the city, but on long drives I prefer the 5th generation... most of the time I just prefer the turbo zc'd 4th gen though
Seriously though... what kind of post is this? Did you you expect people in the 4th gen forum to answer YES, THEY ARE? Besides, if it wasn't for the 4th gen car, people probably wouldn't be doing any of this crap to Hondas.... you don't go around asking people if their grandparents and parents are all pieces of chit do you? Have some respect.

I have to agree on the fun factor. I have a 2nd gen Crx Si and a 4rth gen Civic Si. Both of them are tons more fun to drive then a 5th gen, or even a 6th gen. Even a higher gen civic with a b swap wasnt fun to drive. There is no sence of speed, and the go cart feeling is totaly gone. Even with the same suspension setup as my 4th gen (tokicos, and skunk2 coilovers) the ride was lacking the same edge. I really dont know how to describe it, I just know that I will never buy anything higher then a EF. To tell you the truth, I think I liked the 1st gen crx better then I did the 5th gen civic.
