Garrett m11 turbo on d series help
I just picked up a garrett turbo thats in great shape, its a .60 ar and says m11 on it and has ford stamped onto it as well. Ive been researching and i think its a 86 ford thunderbird turbo. Will produce 300whp as far as i know, just wondering if anyone has any expierence with this turbo? Thanks
i traded a p75 ecu that was socketed and chipped for vtec, a set of rod bearings and a set of steelies. But its a really clean turbo, and i got the intercooler too. It almost looks like its from an evo but its the thunderbird one, and the way the inlet and outlet are, they need to be cut, rotated, and then re welded, but it will work fine. Just curious, i was looking to make around 350 on a built vitara build, is this turbo capable?
another question, i was going to use a hf manifold with a adapter plate, but i wanted to use an external wastegate as i have never messed with internal and the wastegate selinoid is pulled off the turbo, Any suggestions?
idk. the stock turbo thunderbird could make around 300 from what i've read on them. so in a honda, i would assume it would be close to that. you could always just spend around 65 bucks or so and buy a cast manifold from ebay. then just get the wastegate to match. instead of an adapter plate. and the manifold would probably flow better than an oem piece.

300whp is about the max for that turbo, due to it being a stg1 wheel. You could get 325 with an awsome motor, but not likely a stock d16. One of my friend's first turbo cars (old b16 w/uberdata) made 250whp at 9psi with that turbo with a .63ar turbine housing, to give you an idea what a better cam and housing will get you.
To use an external WG with the HF manifold, you'd have to machine that O2 spot flat & put the holes in it to fit a 38mm on it, or weld a threaded 38mm flange onto it. I've cut 2 HF's to do that in the past, so there's enough meat there for machining.

ok, ya its just a little something to get me by, my original plan was a gt30r, but with that kind of money i could send this turbo out and have like a stage 3 wheel put into it and have some money left over, also im not looking for 300whp at the moment, i have a block that im building with fjts and vitaras. Current motor is a b7 bottom on, z6 head, y8 intake mani, exedy stage 1 clutch, arp headstuds, and 3layersteel headgasket. So she should handle 10psi. Also i read online that the internal wastegate for that turbo is 10psi, so i would just leave it at that. I have been reading on DIY charge piping and have came accrost a couple people running 10psi on abs(home depo cheap pvc piping) and its melting point is 300 degrease and have said it held up fine. Just looking for any opinions on a budget build? Also was reading on using oil filter sandwhich and using small raadiator hose for the oil feed? I have herd double clamping it to the fittings holds up fine and holds up fine. sorry for the essay and i appreciate all the feed back!
also i have been told to just run the feed line and if i start to get some smoke to run a restrictor, i was looking into the ebay oil feed line for like $30 but i dunno wether to use the brass T fitting or a oil filter sandwich
