My opinion is....No, too many Red Flags on the insurance claim history.
Why does it have a new engine? Your link to the insurance claims document, shows a theft of the car in 2001. Maybe the engine was replaced, then. But why does if have a new engine in 2008-2009?
How many of the non-collision components, (fenders, hood, bumpers, dash, hatch, doors, door well, etc.) still have their original VIN labels? You will have to remove some plastic clips in the wheel well to remove the splash liner, to see the VIN label on each fender.
After all of those collisions, do the rear tires track directly behind the front tires, as the car drives down the road?
At some point, you may justify the $12,000 for a salvage-titiled Type R, just not now.
I would be willing to pay $12,000 to $14,000 for a salvage-titled Type R, if all of the correct VIN labels (except the drive train) were verified. Of course, the new drive train would have to be correct for the year of production of the car.
