Default FS/FT: 93 Rx-7 Project Car $7500 NC

Up for sale is my Vintage Red 1993 Mazda Rx-7 Touring Edition with black leather interior. The rear apex seal cracked at ~45k miles and then became a project car. I had Rotary Resurrection rebuild the engine with Atkins 3mm apex seals and a street port. The rotor housings were replaced with ones that had ~10k miles. Since then I have done many modifications and converted it from an automatic to manual, but sadly due to being a college student I have no funds to finish my project and the car has been sitting outside of my house at home and not being driven by anyone with the paint severely fading and the tires going flat. Thus, I feel it is time for me to sell the car to someone who can finish the project. The car now has ~48k original miles with ~3k on the rebuilt engine. I’m not sure the exact mileage as the car is sitting at home in Catawba and I go to school in Chapel Hill.

The Good/Modifications:

Electronics:
HKS Turbo Timer
Sunpro Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge
Faze Boost Gauge
GlowShift Coolant Temp Gauge

Exhaust:
3” Heat Wrapped Stainless Steel, Cermaic Coated Corksport Downpipe w/ Bosch O2 Sensor
3” Megan Racing Stainless Steel Midpipe (still have stock catalytic converter if needed for emissions)
Custom 2.25” Restrictor Plate (until wastegate is ported) to prevent boost creep/spike
3” HKS Hi-Power Catback Exhaust

Fuel:
Walbro Hi-Flow 255 lph Fuel Pump w/ FP rewire
WitchHunter Cleaned and Flow Tested Primary 550cc & Secondary 850cc Injectors

Ignition:
Taylor 10.4 mm Spark Plug Wires
NGK BUR9EQP Sprak Plugs All Around

Turbo/Engine:
Bomz Dual Intake Hard Pipes
K&N Air Filters
GReddy Elbow
Efini Y Pipe
Unorthodox Racing Light Weight Main/Crank Pulley
RVM Light weight water pump and alternator pullies
Custom Ground Wires
Hose Technique Silicone Vacuum Lines with Viton Check Valves
Ported Intake Manifold (Removing Double Throttle)
Hitachi HT12 sequential twin turbos rebuilt at 41K miles by Rotor Sports Racing
XS Power SMIC
Heat Insulated Upper & Lower Intake Manifold Gaskets
Ceramic & Teflon Coated Lower Intake Manifold
Battery Relocation to trunk

Cooling:
Koyo Radiator
Fan Mod

Drivetrain:
Manual Transmission Swap (JSpec Tranny w/ shorter 5th gear) (Bought from Japan2LA on rx7club.com)
Exedy Clutch Kit
ACT Prolite Flywheel 9.5 lbs
Swapped 4.10 Rear Differential with Torsen LSD
Ebay Short Shifter w/ Rx8 shift ****

Suspension:
Megan Racing Front Strut Bar

Wheels:
Stock Chrome Rims w/ wheel locks
BF Goodwrench Comp TA tires (Needs new tires, I will replace before sold so can be driven or will lower price if you want to buy your own)

Interior:
JDM Rear Leather Seats
Replaced stock front speakers with Alpine speakers

Exterior:
99 Spec Tail Lights

Lubrication:
Idemitsu 10W-30 Full Synthetic Rotary Engine Racing Oil
Neo Synthetic 75w-90 in Transmission and Differential

Emission & Other Stuff Removed:
Air Pump
Double Throttle & Butterflies
EGR
PCV Valve
A/C & Power Steering

The Bad:
Body
-The paint is faded very badly and WILL need a new paint job. However, there is no rust or major dents, only a few little dings.
-Someone backed into my front passenger fender so I replaced it and the paint color is a different shade of red from the car, but that wont matter since the car needs painted anyways.
-Window Tint is peeling and needs replaced
-Needs new tires (I will replace if desired, or will negotiate with price if buyer wants to buy new tires)

Interior
-Driver’s seat is slightly faded in one spot, but no rips or tears.
-Shifter console has scratches and needs clips for shifter boot
-Has automatic gauge cluster so “Hold light” flashes, but the light bulb could be removed or you could swap out the gauge clusters.
-No cd player, I had left the doors unlocked and someone had stolen it. Base tube in rear trunk was removed due to no longer working and taking up a great deal of space.

Engine
-Needs aftermarket ECU and Tune. The engine runs fine and has many modifications BUT I did not have the funds to replace the stock ecu with an aftermarket unit and get it tuned. Due to all of the modifications I advise the engine not to be ran hard as the engine will hit fuel cut due to the 3” exhaust and boost creep/spike. There are no check engine lights.
-I’m not sure if I can find the receipt for the engine rebuild as it was about 2-3 years ago and I seemed to have misplaced it. I have pictures and videos that I took of the process and would be more than willing to do a compression test for the buyer.

I tried to be more than honest about all aspects of the car as I would not want to scam anyone. I may have forgotten some modifications or problems as I haven’t messed with the car in a very long time. Although I have kept the gasoline and oil fresh and started the car occasionally so the engine wouldn’t be ruined. This would be an excellent project car for someone to work on who was looking for a lower priced Rx7 and enjoys working on car. I tried to be as thorough with the modifications as possible so the buyer would know what they’re getting into when working on the car. I’m asking $7500 OBO. Would be willing to trade for K swapped 92-95 civic.

Kelly Blue Book for this car with this mileage in “fair condition” is as follows:
Fair
$11,455
• Some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition.
• Clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional.
• Tires may need to be replaced.
• There may be some repairable rust damage. (My car has NO rust)

The best way to contact me is through email perza@email.unc.edu. I can provide you with pictures or links to my cardomain page of the car. I currently do not have any updated pictures of the faded paint, only of when the paint was in better condition. Thanks for looking.

Here are some pics (please note exterior pictures aren't recent and the paint is now faded). More pics @ http://www.cardomain.com/ride/470973. (Note NOS energy drink bottle was a joke to a friend.)

All that is necessary is an ECU upgrade (best option would be Apexi Power FC), tune, paint, and tires (which is up to buyer if I buy them or negotiate price if the buyer would rather buy). The car is drivable right now as I drive it occasionally, but the tires are old and in poor condition and I advise against aggressive driving until the ECU is upgraded and tuned. Other little things would just involve minor cosmetic repairs.
