Default Cheapest swap for '91 EF DX with boost

Hi, I'm new here and I recently picked up a '91 EF Hatch DX in excellent condition. It is a D15 with 243k miles on it and running on 3 cylinders, but it still drives very well.

Anyways, motor is not going to last very much longer obviously, and it's time for a swap or rebuild. I'm planning on running a turbo, so I'm looking to swap for maybe a D16ZC DOHC or even a B16 or B18 if the price is right.

What do you guys suggest? I know both engines have similar compression ratio's, low 9's which is good for boost, but I have no clue on the strength of the internals. I have heard they all start to give out at a little over 200 whp, but clarification would be nice.

I plan on running stock internals at about 5-7 psi on a 57 trim, and then later building the block and running 20+. I have experience with turbo's, but no experience with motor swaps or Honda's in general. I am a first time owner.

I plan on spending about 1,000-1,500 on a low mileage motor to put in it. If you guys have any good suggestions let me know!

D-series, d16z6's can make 240hp bone stock on a good tune

Yeah, that's the direction I'm leaning. I just can't seem to find a decent motor/trans.

$1,000-$1500 can get you a B16, though I'm not a fan of that motor by any means. I'm unclear on if your budget is for the completed project or the engine alone, if for completed project, I'd get a low mileage Y8 or Z6 for $300-$400 and throw it in.

i got my z6 in my ef and i love it! even tho im still trying to figure out some small issues with the car, it pulls really hard. and im still using the stock intake. i also ported the intake/exhaust chambers a little bit too. im thining about selling my race gsr head and going turbo on this motor lol.
