i have an exhaust leak around my header. i own a 2002 honda civic si hatchback and the exhaust leak i think is coming from the gasket. what would be the easiest way to fix this leak?

 

Cant you just yank header at flange at put in new gasket? Dont know of any other way, Bud........Remember to use brass nuts.

 

Is it a stock header (maybe covered under warranty)?

If not, start the car and maybe spray soapy water to see where it is leaking from (look for bubbles)..... It may not be the gasket and could be a weld on the header.....this is why I say to try the soapy water first. If it is the header, then you may have to unbolt the exhaust to get some play to replace the gasket on the header.

 

I think I might have a leak as well, because playtime i go WOT i hear this rattlesnake like hissing coming from under the car.

This only sounds when i go wide open throttle, not when i'm cruising like 65 on the highway.

 

I had a rattle on one of my cars and it was the heat shield under the car.....check this out because it would only make sounds when I would give it the gas.

 

Fix that leak at a muffler shop, anything else would be stupid. Shifting with the motors we have, our header/exhaust goes under so much stress, that leak could be trouble. (muffler falling off, header cracks..)
