Honda accord 1990 Manual Tranny
I have a 1990 honda accord manual transmission. On thursday it was fine, worked great. Parked it like normal, ran like normal.
Friday when I got up to go to work. I noticed that the clutch peddal was real weak. Normally it requires more pressure to press in. Maybe two to three time more pressure, still not much. I thought it was weird. As I was trying to go I also noticed it was so difficult to put into gear. Even with the peddal all the way to the floor, once i grinded gears trying to get into third, like i wasn't using the clutch at all. Other than that, all gears were hard to get into, not with the gears but the actaul stick. I had to force it into gear, no gear grinding accept with the above.
When I got to the parking lot, I forced it into first gear and tested the actual clutch. I gased up and popped the clucth a few time and monitored the Rpm's. That seemed pretty normal.
Could my clutch be going out?? What is that? I though it was a weird problem.. Maybe it's signs that the clutch is going out??
Thanks for your imput..

Sounds like a fluid issue to me. Check your fluid level for the clutch then trace the plumbing all the way from the master cylinder at the footwell/firewall, through the damper near the passenger suspension tower, over to the slave at the transmission housing. Odds are there is a leak somewhere. The master and slave cylinders are not too tough to replace, I did them because my clutch was getting heavy in hot weather. It did nothing to solve my problem so I have concluded it is a lubrication issue at the clutch fork or the friction disc (17 years is a while to go on the factory install as I have yet to replace the disc). I do not know if the master or slave could fail internally without leaking fluid, maybe someone can chime in. It is my first guess and where I would focus. Good luck.
