you should just buy a new motor man. a blow head gasket will make your engine bog nasty is hell cause its loosing compression. change the head gasket.

When you changed the rod bearings was the crank still smooth or was it kinda messed up? if it was messed up then just get a new motor cause it will spin those bearings again in a month.

and why are you driving with a blow head gasket? thats letting water into your oil and water and oil do not mix well and when doing that while trying to break some new rod bearings in thats just asking for more problems.

get a fresh motor. or do a cheap HG repair. b/c if you take it somewhere its gunna cost just as much or more to replace than if you were to just buy a new motor.

its easy is hell to change the Head gasket. cost $32 and after that flush you oil out good and do a oil change drive for 100 miles and change it one more time.

A new motor sounds better in this case where you had a knock. Head gaskets are easy to change, but be warned of a warped head OR A cracked head, i've had this problem before and well, its never fun to wait 2 weeks for the machine shop to get around to shaving the head.
