Here in FL it's been raining like crazy the last three days. I hadn't been driving the S during these days, however when I got in today while backing out I heard a slushing and thought maybe it was water on the back of the top. After work something about that sound was bothering me so I popped the trunk to see the jack cover was a little wet, lift the cover and there is water in plastic jack holder as well as a POOLl of water under that. At least half a gallons worth. WTH gives! I've got everything dry, but it's supposed to be wet like this for the next couple of days. I'm getting out there tomorrow to but would like to locate the possible issue prior to my start tomorrow, has this happened with anyone else. I don't know if the rain just wasn't able to drain properly (not that I know where the drains are yet until tomorrow) but what would possibly cause this issue?
Looking for a bit of help and answers. I'd appreciate assistance that you can give, thanks.

I used to get standing water in the trunk well too. I drilled a small hole at the lowest point and touched up the metal with paint. It works: the trunk carpet gets damp sometimes, but it doesn't pool up. I have no idea where the leak is.
if you look at the trunk, you can easily tell where the rain is suppose to slide off/out. i don't know what these parts are but its fairly easy to tell. find out if anythings clogged or blocking it.

Maybe this is based on year or generation. What year is everyone?
It wasn't the greatest of weather yesterday to check, but for the brief period I was able to view it looked as if it was coming from the right part of the trunk near the hinges.
Man its your breather vent its in the tailight side looking strait down. The rubber gasket is leaking pull it a part and rtv the outer edge. I had the same problem I did this and no water since. There is a write up on s2ki.

I found out it's coming from the complete opposite side, adjacent to the taillights.
There are a few reasons you could be getting water in your trunk.
As suggested, it could be the vents... If you don't see any water up top then this is probably your issue. I have attached pics to show you the vent and sealing.
It could also be the rain rail around the bottom of the soft top, it could be damaged or re-installed wrong (if the top has been replaced). I've also seen them leak on the metal seam around the top corners of the trunk where the fender mates to the body (there's a TSB I think). The tail light seals have been known to leak, especially if you did the AP2 conversion on an AP as well.
Let us know what you find out.
