Default Electrical help ASAP!!!

Well i think i had a short in the wiring to my head unit and it filled the whole interior of my car with smoke. so i disconnected the headunit and removed the fuse for the radio. but i had a problem after that. none of the instruments on the dash worked and my left turn signal was stuck on even after i turned off the car and removed the key.

so i checked all my fuses in the car and under the hood. i found the 7.5amp backup fuse a was completely melted (under the hood next to the ecu fuse). (the people who owned the car before must have replaced this fuse with a 10amp fuse)

so i removed that fuse and the turn signal shut off and the gauges work again. but when i turn on my left turn signal the clock flashes with the turn signal and no longer keeps the time. [(right now the fuse is out) do i need this fuse]

My question is how do i fix this? any help is appreciated. thanks

take it out and try to start the car and see what happens. i think you need that back up fuse though. check wires. something is frayed and a power wire is getting grounded...causing the problem, my headlight wire did that..killed 5 fuses till i found the bad wire and fixed it

i removed it and the car starts and runs and the gauges work but any time i turn my left turn signal on the clock flashes too.

This is caused by a loose ground wire.

The "back up" fuse runs the clock, radio memory lead, and most often the dome light circuit. I dont know how your turn signal is connected to the clock, sounds like you have some damage in a main harness where two or more wires are melted and fused together.

Have you tried inserting a new 7.5A BACKUP fuse? Or is the under-hood fuse box damaged?

Regarding the blinking clock, check the G201 and G401 ground wires:

so my problem is much bigger. i rewired my head unit cause i thought it was a simple short but, its not i was in the dash rerunnin wires when i noticed the head unit is runnin on a direct wire to the battery for the memory wire but i couldnt find out where the original hot wire was so after feelin around i noticed that there was a wire that is melted to others that is runnin up the wiring harness. my only idea is that that wire is the original hot and it grounded out on a wire and back fed and began to melt the wire and the back up fuse under the hood. causing the fuse to melt and my left turn signal to stay on.

i had my gauges workin but when i was drivin earlier they just stopped workin when i turned on my left turn signal. i checked my fuse under the dash and its fine. my question is is there any other fuses?

i temporarily fixed the problem by removing the back up (under the hood) and the radio fuse (under the dash). my other question is how do i take the black part off my dash (where the clock is) ( i removed the 2 screws but couldnt get it loose.)

thanks

hey so i found out what wire went bad and fixed the problem. it was the ilumination wire that ran to the clock. the wire must have shorted and melted the wire back through the wiring harness. but my tach and speedometer no longer work. the only lights that work on the dash are the battery and the srs light. i was able to reinstall my back up fuse and the turn signal no longer stays on.

i just dont know where else there would be a fuse for the gauges (i already checked under the dash and that fuse is fine.) thanks.

It's possible that when the short occured, it ruined the gauges themselves. So once you fix all the damaged wires, replace the gauges and see if it works.
