Default zc head on d15b2 question...!!!

Just wanted to know what kind of gains and if its really worth it...I got a 91 jdm zc sohc complete head (pm3-8) and was thinking about slapping it on my stock d15b2 block and doing the mpfi conversion...Would this be worth it and more info about this swap would be helpful

maybe it will make a difference but im not sure, but the difference between the sohc zc and the d16a6 head is that the ZC has more aggressive cams........might be able to rev higher thats about it i think.....

since the zc is basically a d16a6, if you're doing this you'll need a d16y7 or d1678 cam gear to correct for a monor eroor in the timing by using that head on your block.

It has to do with the fact that the deck height is defferent on a zc and d16a6 than on a d15b2.

Other than that, it will work no problem. Be sure to use a headgasket for a 96-00 car (maybe even 92-00) sohc vtec model. It's metal and is a lot better gasket and works great to raise the compression just a little bit.

thread resurrection . . .

Joe, you can use the SOHC ZC cam just fine (both fuel injected and carb versions) in a b1/b2/a6 head (all pm3 castings).

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it unless you could get it cheap and you didn't want to tune the motor.

IIRC its only like ~.035 additional valve lift over the b2/a6 . . . not sure anyone has ever measured the lobes themselves to see if duration is longer.

I sold a carb ZC cam a year ago for $40 if that gives you a frame of reference. The stock PM6 ECU was able to run it fine when monitoring a wideband . . . the delta 272 I replaced it with required some work in turboedit.

I think I'd back that, there is a difference but over a B2/A6 it would be arguable if you'll notice a difference. Now over a B7, that one I can tell you from experience you do feel...AFTER you go back to a B7 hahahaha. Seriously though, lobe profile is visually different compared to a B7 but if swapping over a B2/A6 I'd say do it for fun but don't expect it to be a night and day difference.
