wat is this for ???and do u really need it ??

its just part of the intake to keep it a little higher than the bottom of the air box and use the air from the front instead of from the wheel well area

i have one on my car. it gets air from the front of the car, i took off the little piece that connets to the fender though, either way its stock so it wont hurt your car as long as you have a filter. a good suggestion for you would be a k&n cone filter on your stock rubber piping to the intake, itll make the whistling sound that everyone loves

That part of the intake is to pull air from around the exhaust manifold during warm up.

i dont think it even helps with start up, does it? since most of the ef model civics dont even have it, it must not be important. either way its just a pos plastic that gets in the way when you want to upgrade your exhaust manifold later on

It's for start up.
notice how it's located close to the top of the radiator and stretches all the way over to the exhaust manifold.
Many cars have similar features for their intake so they can draw in warm air while the engine idles.

lol state inspections suck hahahahahahaha thank GOD oregon doesnt have that, just pass emissions and your clear. no paper work or ANYTHING for motor swaps. thats why cali sucks, try to do something unique, and BAM! they throw the book at you lol
