Default vibrant race muffler

i seen this muffler on chase bays crx on the cover of honda tuning..i like the way it looks cause i want to tuck it away from view so the car looks like it has no muffler but i don't want it to be loud...i have a greddy sp at the moment and i notice when i first got it, it was quite until all the stuffing fell out of it, then it got loud...so i like to get your guys thoughs on my idea. the vibrant muffler has an 3" OD and 9" long, i'm thinking bout making a permenate silencer for it: getting a 2.5" pipe, drilling some holes in it, cut out two donut shape plates ( 3" OD and 2.5" ID) stuff the muffler with some stuffing kinda like what's in the greddy sp and weld the two donuts in place with the 2.5" pipe in the middle...do you guys think that would quite it down enough to keep the cops from hearing me all the way down the block...this would be going on my 92 hatch with gsr swap...

from what i've read the vibrant race muff does little to no muffling. i'm not sure why you would go to all the trouble of everything you've listed, its going to negate any performance advantage of the race muffler. why not just get a long resonator for the mid section of your exhaust and a decent muffler, like the vibrant flat black ones, get it fabricated so that it sits up nice and tight to the car, and run a turn down flat black tip.

I have one on my car, but ONLY to "technically" have a muffler while on the street. Honestly, it does nothing to prevent noise. I used 2 resonators after the downpipe, and that helped a bit. I guess you could use 3 if you wanted, but they are kind of heavy. Just cruising around the car isn't very loud, but WOT it screams.

I had a Dynomax race muffler, which is very similar in dimensions. I got pulled over and ticketed for having no exhaust. It wasn't even worth trying to explain.

I just got my Vibrant 2.5" Muffler put on my GSR a couple days ago and I have no resonator on it either. I love the way it looks, like factory Type R muffler. But its quite with a deep tone to it. When you open up vtec it sounds deep.. but overall regular driving its quite.

magnaflow makes a race muffler that's not much heavier and about the same price. It actually a real muffler and will quiet down your car some. Has packing to muffle sound.
