Default brake lights not working 2000 ex coupe HELP

so heres the thing my buddys brakelights just stopped working on his 2000 EK Coupe Ex Auto. reverse lights still work, regular lights sill work everything works except brakelights... so i checked the bulbs(good) and replaced all fuses with smart fuses(all of them were good to start). next i tested power going to the lights from the switch found out the switch didnt work so replaced it and now it works power now leaves the switch. checked the connector behind the plastic covering in the backseat, behind the driver seat, didnt look good so i replaced it anyway checked continuity between everything and it was good but im still not getting power to the connector and my brake lights still dont work. the color of the wire that goes to the lights is GRN/YLW if anybody has any ideas what this could be please help dont feel like ripping entire car apart trying to find something thats in my face thanks... by the if you need more info just ask ill give you as much as possible.

I would check continuity from the GRN/YLW after the brake switch to the GRN/YLW at the brake light bulb. The only other thing the bulb needs other than 12v from the brake light sw. is ground from the chassis, if you have continuity on the GRN/YLW and you are getting 12v on the GRN/YLW, you may be lacking ground. You can run a temp ground from the brake light to the chassis, see what happens, or check continuity to ground.

Sounds like you have a pretty good grasp on what your doing, troubleshooting auto electrical issues can be a pain, I do it for a living and it can be a mind bender at times. It is somethimes easier to bypass a problem to find it, or fix it.

Check the continuity to the connector, and at each point where there's a connection point. It could be as simple as a pinched wire somewhere. We had an MR2 that sat for some time and found out mice had chewed through some of the wiring...

thanks guys imma run a seperate ground from the brake light to see if its a bad ground, but i dont think its that because im not even getting 12v to the connector in the backseat or to the connector on the brake lights, only to the connector in the brake switch. im going to check continuity on the connector on the brake light see if i can find something there, been on this car for 2 days still havent figured it out, if anyone has any other ideas please fell free to let me no thanks

If no power after your switch then your switch is bad
your switch is bad
