Having run a few of my cars completely stripped before, I can give you the big downsides to no heat / AC.

In the winter or when it rains, a heater is a huge plus, not just for comfort, but mostly for safety. Driving over the summit, I've had ice form on the INSIDE of the windshield, which is not easily or quickly removed. The windshield would also fog up often and would require me to be constantly wiping it down. Not fun at all!!!

A/C is more of just a luxury thing... if you can stand the heat, no real downside.

If I lived somewhere that was always in the 90's, MAYBE I'd keep A/C.

I drive with the windows down all the time anyways and here in the seattle are the summer rarely sees 90 degree weather

I'd keep the heat for sure a/c is no big deal with the heat or not I've only had 2 cars with a/c(both gsr's). The heater as stated above is more a saftey thing then anything because of the defrost setting. If you must remove it please invest in a "jeep trail" heater for the defrost part atleast to keep you and other's safe they really work good I had one in my bug years ago. But if its just a summer car ditch the a/c and heater if you want.

do you mean to say power steering??? you can't really see the heat unless you're really trying to look for it, and it's only two hoses.

In Arizona you will REALLY want to keep the A/C, doesn't it get over 100 there? You would have to be a complete idiot to get rid of a functioning A/C system in a desert.

Depends on what part of AZ, the northern part stays pretty cool. But Phoenix can get WELL into the 100's... I think the record is around 120. At least it's dry heat!

Having heat just saved me from an over-heat... car was losing coolant, and I was able to keep going by doing the HEAT FULL BLAST trick... . [damn radiator drain **** not closed all the way]

Number one reason to keep heat? It doesnt take up much space and runs right off the block. As far as the a/c goes it depends . I know my g/f loved to drive around in my old crx. Taking it on 150 mile trips to the ocean in the middle of july with her in it = bad idea even with the windows down. Even at 110+ mph on certain stretches the air is still hot no matter how fast you go. I can live with out a/c but heat is a must . it is nice to have on 95 + days and 50% humidity.

Yeah I live in the Oklahoma/Arkansas area, and a/c is nice, but I haven't had it in 4 years in my ride. I just pulled my busted compressor out yesterday actually. My radiator went, and I was in the area so out it came. Unless you live in the desert even in the south it's nice to have a heater. You can't drive if you can't see.

ever wonder why the a/c compressor kicks on when the defrost is on? it helps remove humidity from the air to help un fog your windows. plus why not? i never really noticed that big of a difference in power when the a/c was on, and even in 100* weather it chilled the car NICELY. gotta love r12. you can wrap the lines to make them look good wire wrap stuff (it's black, it's ribbed, and you stuff wires into it to make them look clean and so they're out of the way).

Heat is a must. It's never really worked in my hatch which makes driving my car in the rain hazardous. In the winter time when it's 20 some degrees out and there's all sorts of air seeping into the cabin....now thats a different kind of white knuckle driving.

irreguardless id say keep it. kudos to the guy who mentioned r12(woot) and to the guy who said +1 for tx (big thumbs up) you cant really drive a car now a days on r12. the heater is irellivant in this case. you cant really TAKE it out. plus it helps when your car is over heating. jut turn it on full blast and point it at your feet. and yes it does help with the defrosting the windows. another reason why id keep it. as for the a/c, i live in texas and have been for the past 22 years. heat is really no factor to me. BUT it is always nice to get into your ride after a hard days work/etc and just soak up the a/c. really no mpg difference when its installed or not. if that was the case, then id suggest upgrading to a bigger pulley kit to make up for that "lost power"(1-2 hp???) plus, it loks nice to see a fresh engine bay with the wires tucked and all you can see it the mechanical parts and nothing else.

so, with that being said, be it for daily, drag, street, turbo, nitrous, supercharges, meth injection(if thats possible on this car) or what ever you can think of, then id suggest keeping it.

Dude If your going to be moving to Arizona and your not used to the heat keep the ac. If heat's not a problem, and you want to clean out the engine bay then tear that chit out. If the ac worked in my car I'd would have kept it. It never has worked so I recently tore all that junk out, and it does look better. thats my opinion.
