you mean Can you Ref a GSR in a CRX? or just smog it? cause if you pulled up to a smog shop in a gsr crx, most wont mess with it.

i have seen them ref'ed in the past, but the ref has become more strict to wut they well allow fly. such as ECU has to be same OBD as the motor, so if 96 GSR u need run 0bd2 GSR ecu...in a 89 crx with out a jumper.....yea.

ive had a couple cars refed back in the day, 90 CRXw/91 LS (Easy), 93 SI w/ 95Gsr (easy), 96 civic ex w/ LSV 98' B18 block/99' B16 head (dont ask how)

but from wut i hear, due to cali's f-ed up buget the cal ref is closed.

anyways hope this helps, and good luck!

so
in that case does he have to have paperwork from the reg station stating that the swap is clean?
or how do i go about smogging it, if they wont even take a conversion such as this regularly?

It's possible to BAR a DOHC ZC but your going to have to do some adjustments

Not just the same OBD, but it has to be the exact ECU for that particular motor.

For example, there is only one way to BAR a ODB1 B16, and that's with the P30 ECU, because that was the only ODB1 B16 ECU we got (on the del Sol VTEC). There are plenty of other ECU's that work but you have to use that particular one in order to pass BAR.

SOHC ZC is nothing to worry about. I have said setup in my car and from what I've been told, BAR will reject you because it's like putting a D16A6 in.

The basic law is that you can't change anything related to emissions without it being CARB approved, and that includes intake manifolds. However, MPFI is already OEM so it's fine. It's possible that a complete ******** cop will give you a ref ticket for having a SOHC ZC swap, which he shouldn't, but then again California cops can pretty much do anything to pick on you so just try to stay as far away from them as possible

How? They usually want you to make it into a USDM equivalent...I'm guessing you could BAR a ODB0 DOHC ZC using first gen Integra gear?
