The light color temperature also depends on what wattage your blast is running on. If you're running 6000 kelvin capsules with a 55w ballast, the light output will be identical to that of 4300-5000 K.

If picking up anything higher than 55w, be sure to get an upgraded harness.

I was at the dealership the other day, and some girl had H.I.D.s that had burned right through the harnesses. The technicians were not too happy.

9006 for low beam application. You will not need an upgraded harness or relay if you are using a 35w kit. I installed my 8000k HIDs about 6 months ago and absolutely love them

The kits that everyone is talking about u wouldn't need to do any upgrades at all kits are plug & play.

An upgraded harness is generally a good idea, but like you said, 3 years strong and no probs. Its kinda like changing your oil...sure its recommended that you change it every 3000mi, but you can usually make it 4, 5, 6k miles no prob. running a harness is really just a cheap way of not making a big prob down the road.

can you take some shots of the hids in your reverse lights? ive heard of it in a few applications and am interested how it looks in a civic.

Sorry if this is answered in a FAQ thread, but wouldn't the PNP kits give off a lot of scattered light and a poor light pattern in a housing designed for halogen bulbs?

I'm a newb to these cars and am picking one up this week, so just trying to do a little research.

yea some reflectors handle it better than others. up until this last model headlight when they switched to the 9006 (or 5, not sure) was down right horrible. Ive seen new civics with HIDs and the glare isnt TOO horrible, but its still worlds away from a retrofit. the thing you dont get with a halogen reflector with hid is the width. same for even a lot of halogen reflectors. on the other side, projectors like the new miata and 4runner handle HIDs quite well; good enough that even after having a retrofit, if i were to buy one of them, I would prob go with a plug n prey kit for it.
