What do i need to do to take off window tint?
I decided i dont like tint on my car anymore and just wanted to know if all i have to do is just peel up a side and pull of if theres was a was a easier was to do it...thanks
If your doing the whole car then I'd recommend just having a tint shop do it. Some people say its easy to strip some say its hard. My only experience sucked! Heres what i was told to do and what most tint shops do(so i was told):
* take Windex or something with Ammonia in it and drench the window, spray it heavly all over.
* Take a garbage bag or grocery store bag and place it on the window and smooth it out so that it sticks to the window well.
*Let the bag dry so it sticks to the window then when its dry start to peel it up and pull along the window.
*Take as much off as possible and any excess use a razor blade to peel up.
My friends have successfully done this to two cars. I wasnt there when they did them this is just how they told me they did it. One was the rear hatch of an '87 HB and the other was all the windows of my friends '91 CRX. Me and my cousin tried this on the rear hatch of his escort and it didnt work one bit. We ended up just spraying it with windex and scraping it with razor blades. It worked fine and we got all the tint off but we only did one window you wouldnt want to do this on a whole car.
I recommend just going to a tint shop and having them strip it. Im not sure of the price but the hassle i went through wasnt worth the time to do a whole car.
Someone else may have an easier method that would be more helpful to you.

1. spray some water on the outside of the windows
2. cut black garbage bag and place it on the window(use tape if its windy)
3. let it sit for about 1 hour
4. if you did it right you should be able to peel off the FILM with your finger nails(It should come off in one piece)
5. now your gonna have some glue residue left over.
6. buy some tint-off spray from walmart and scrape the glue on the window off.
7. I used an old credit card cut in half to scrape it off. You can buy scrapers in wal-mart from the paint section, and that works alot better. Also make sure it is sunny when you do this.
Alot of people suggest to use amonia but i almost fainted from the smell, so i would stay away from it. THe film comes off easy but the residue/glue is the toughest part, just get a big scraper from walmart and some tint-off spray and itll be easy. good luck.
