Default high rev k24a2

So I'm gonna go with a k24a2 instead of at the a1. Could I get some k20 cams an springs an redline at 8+? Or how could that work.

You will still have to get kpro to tune it with aftermarket internals such as the vavle train kit and diff cams

So it can be done, with kpro. An I wouldn't need the head swap. Would I be able to use a stock tsx ecu on on my ep with that k24a2?

Yeah it can be done. I never understood why u would change the head to k20 from a k24. U can use stock ecu from tsx but it will need to be rekeyed for ur immobilizer

Dealerships are the only place to get an ecu rekeyed. Depending on said dealership should be no more than $90. That how much it was for me!! No problem. Check on crsx about ur k20 head question!!

1) you can not use a tsx ecu with out changing out the harness.
2) you will run lean with a stock k20a2 ecu, you might want to look at cam angles as well....k20a2 have more movement than the k24a2. This is why people put k20a2 heads on the k24a2 motors.
3) a k24a2 reving at 7500 rpm has the same pistion speeds as a k20a2 at 9000 rpm. Reving a k24a2 to 8000 rpm will kill the motor in time, might be a week, might be a couple of months but you will kill it....you need to beef up the rods and pistions...

Umm, don't people swap out their stock a2 cams for the TSX cams? Anywho, why rev high any way?

I would just leave the k24a2 whole. People usually only swap heads on the k24a1 and k24a4. The 06+ TSX have the biggest OEM honda cams anyways and the head design is extremely similar to the k20. Use a kpro RSX ecu.

May I suggest the op read a lot over at k20a.org...start here....

http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74

as to the reving the heck out of the k24...let me quote....

"
The actual bolting on part wouldn't be too difficult, as the heads should mount right up. However, you do run into an issue with piston speed. At its 7900-rpm redline, the K20A2 in the Type-S has a piston speed of 4464 feet per minute (fpm). Thanks to its long stroke, the K24A1 comes close to that, running at 4225 fpm at its much lower redline of 6500 rpm. By the time you've spun your K24 up to just 6900 rpm, you're already at 4485 fpm, and at the 7900 rpm redline of the K20A2, you're at a crazy 5135 fpm. For comparison, even the hyperkinetic S2000 with its 9000 rpm redline doesn't exceed 5000 fpm (it maxes out at 49% fpm). And the Integra's B18C1 only reached 4573 fpm. Translation: If you're going to plunk a K20A2 head on a K24A1 block and redline the concoction to 7900 rpm without seriously building up the bottom end.. duck"

I found little use in your post...

The VTC in the RSX is set to 50deg stock, compared to the TSX's 25deg stock. THere is less Valve-to-Piston clearance in the TSX but even still machining the VTC to 45 is very healthy and you will not run into any clearance issues even if you over rev. Thats partially why the RSX revs so high, but like the others stated the K24 is not built to be a high rev engine. Although the extra .4ltrs mean much more hp and tq reliability. It's a nice motor to build.

The exhaust cam has a better profile in the TSX and actually a nice candidate for a swap into the RSX even. The intake Cam could use some work I think. But simple headers and Exha show nice gains. Between 15 and 20hp with Your VTC machined to 45deg with the K24A2
