Default Is this blemish fixable?

I noticed last week when I was washing my car that I've got a pretty bad oxidation spot on the roof of my 94 LS. The car sat for about a week in the sun cause I was layed up in bed after my hernia surgery. It was really hot most of the week and I think that's when it developed. Anyways I tried some 3M Perfect It for removing light oxidation and scratches but it didn't do much to it. I was going to try the next step up (Perfect it II)which says for medium oxidation.

Here's a few pics of the spot http://www.g3teg.org/modifications/oxidation.htm What I want to know is will rubbing compounds fix this at all?

well, i suggest:

1. Pre-cleaner
2. Clay bar
3. Swirl Mark Remover
4. Hand Glaze
5. Carnuba Wax
(in that order)

If that doesn't work, I'd then try a compound...and if all else fails, wet sand (2000 grit followed by rubbing compound)

Does it look like it ate through the paint or what? Looks funky..good luck!

I don't think it ate through the paint. I ran my finger over it and it still feels smooth, no roughness to it. Kinda like the paint oxidized from underneat. Probably from sitting in the sun for that week.

If it is oxidation, the pre wax cleaner and claybar should take care of it since thats what they are meant to get rid of.

I've owned the car for about 1.5 years and as far as I know it's the original paint. The paint definitely has not worn off there as it's still smooth. The rest of the paint is in great shape considering the car is a 94. A few light scratches and small pits in the hood but there's no signs of oxidation or anything anywhere else on the car.

I took the pic at night. I'll take another one tommorrow morning and post it up.
