How to bleed brake systems?
Just wondering how to bleed the brake sys. I got a 88 crx with disc in front and rear drums, which side first the rear or the front or does it matter? Thanks for any info
You always start furthest from the master cylinder. so you start back right, back left, front right, then front left. Most people would bleed the brakes with 2 people, but sometimes you have to do it by yourself. with 2 people have 1 person pump up the brakes and then release the fluid/air out at each disc/drum. before you open the lines up make sure the person in the car keeps there foot down until you close the line back up so as not to suck air back in. Now if you are doing it alone just run a clear line/vac line from the opening at the disc/drums and drop it into the container of brake cleaner.
when i do it i have the person inside pump the pedal 3 times then on the third time hold it down then you crack open the bleeder and the pedal will go to the floor and have them keep holding it down the tighten the bleeder then repeat. it also helps to have a clear tube to contain the mess and you can actually see the air bubbles keep doing it till all the air and dirty fluid come out and its just clean fluid comiing out.
sorry man i learned that its not furthest from the mc. honda says to bleed as stated:
passenger rear drum, drivers side front disk, drivers side drum, passenger side front disk
RR,LF,FR,RF
on other cars its different. but everything else sounds right

just did a quick search and hondatuning seems to agree with me

either way they both work. i wouldnt doubt using the original way ive done it on all my cars. farthest from the mc and work your way closer. but it still works well. and with two full bleeding sessions ive got a stiff brake pedal.
