FS: J1 Cable B16 Transmission or Just the Gear Set
ITEM LOCATED IN GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA
The gear set is in perfect working order, the casing and all bearings are in perfect working order, yet the middle shift fork is in need of replacement (see pics below. I can either sell just the gears and the final drive or I can replace the shift fork, reassemble the the transmission, and sell it after. It's up to the buyer.

I bought the transmission with the knowledge that it wouldn't go into third gear, I just didn't know why. Upon further tear-down of the transmission I noticed one inch of the middle shift fork was broken off (see pics). The broken piece found its way under the selector shaft and stayed there from the time it broke to the time I opened it up. It never touched the gears as the gears are mint. The syncros are in perfect working order as well.

I counted the gears this morning and came up with these numbers:
66/15 (4.40) final drive
39/12 (3.25) first
39/19 (2.05)second
34/24 (1.42) third
32/29 (1.104) fourth
29/32 (.906) fifth
From those numbers, this is a 90-91 XSi transmission, according to www.ff-squad.com/tech/temp/Bgears.htm .
If I sell it assembled, it will have new output shaft seals (where the half-shaft and passenger side CV axle goes), one new differential bearing (other one was dry/worn), and a new shift shaft seal. Of course it will be sold in PERFECT working order if sold assembled.

Bump! So, we got two perfect bearings on the differential and the case will be hot-tanked by the end of the week. It will take me a little longer to put it back together unless I have a serious buyer soon (thinking about getting a LS fifth and final drive to make this thing fly and get good gas millage)! I also picked up a NOK (OEM Honda) shift-shaft seal to install on this thing once it is fully assembled.
do you still got this for sale? if soo, how well does 3rd gear look like? i mostly need that but i will buy the whole gear set for your asking price.
