okay guys i bought a new hatch the other day with a b20 vtec and some guy that had it b4 me took the screen off of the vtec solenoid....is that safe to drive?

 

It prevents particles from entering the solenoid. It shouldn't keep it from functioning properly (given a chunk of sludge doesn't enter), but I've never driven with it removed before. Nevertheless, get the gasket/filter from Honda soon, you needs it.

Did he say why he took it off?

PS: How do you like the B20VTEC? How high can it rev? What tranny do you have? Give me some details on how it drives, I'm interested in getting that block someday. Thanks.
