What should I check when buying an ITR?
It's a Black 2000 ITR with 16K miles. I have already seen it and I am taking it for a test drive early this week. Now, what should I have checked on the car?
I was planning on asking him to have Acura look it over and say that it has no problems along with a compression/lakdown test and clean carfax. Anything else that I should be looking for or having checked?
I just don't want to forget to check for something...

you can do the compression test yourself. I'd much rather take my car to a reliable H-tech member than to Acura...good luck
16k?.....damn thats great
But yes, take it to a local acura dealer and have them run an inspection on it. The inspection they do is exactly the same one they put used cars through before they sell them as "certified" used cars. It costs around $120 and is well worth it in my opinion. You will most likely have to pay for this, but if the owner still refuses to let you take it, even if you offer to pay, then I would consider not buying the car.

I doubt it. If I was the seller I wouldn't cover the cost of getting my car checked for the sake of someone else. But I would tell the buyer everything about the car including maintenance, how it was driven and accident record.
split the 120...if he is sure its in good condition he will gladly do it.
Thats true, the seller is under no obligation to split anything. Its the buyers responsibility to cover the cost of an inspection. Although, if the seller does not mind, then go for it, but dont lose a deal just because the seller does not want to cough up any cash for the inspection. Remember, the inspection is for YOU, not him, so that alone negates the fact that he should be under any responsibility to pay anything.
If we went by Acura's service records then half of us wouldn't have done any maintenance to our car ever...
