Default Modified exhaust ticket help

Its unfortunate that California has so many laws based on vehicles but thats the way it goes. Any advice from people who live in California that have had this ticket and beat it would be appreciated.

beat it? there is no fighting this ticket im sure. unless you have OEM and he pulled your over for no reason.

1. take exhaust off.
2. put on stock
3. go to CHP and have it signed off (assuming your ticket is correctable which it should)
4. go to court and pay 10$
5 either leave stock or put modified back on

lather rinse repeat

^3. it doesn't necessarily have to be highway patrol unless a law has been changed that I don't know of. Any police officer should be able to sign off a fix-it ticket.

OP, does the ticket say correctable? please post what vehicle code violation you were cited for

around here you cant flag down a cop show him whats up and just have him sign your ticket like we used to. now you have to go to a CHP station thing and have then stamp, sign, and date the back of your ticket.

How exactly are you going to "beat it"

Do you have a modified exhaust? Yes

Then you get a modified exhaust ticket.

Remove the exhaust and put stock back on.

well you can beat it but takes time. you take it to a state ref and have them test the decibel level. if its not abouve 93 or 95(not sure) decibels then it passes. then you get the paperwork of proof. you can stil get puled over and the cop can give you a think even if you have. when you go to ourt and show it to the judge he wil dismis it.

the ticket code is 27151, but there is 2 parts to it a and b. B says that if it is under 95 db then it is legal. Thats probably the only way to beat it. Its crazy to think that all modified exhaust is illegal in California when companies out there state that their exhaust systems are 50 state legal.

not all catbacks are illegal. they have to pass the noise law. you can still get a ticket for it if the cop wants to be a dick.

Just buy a legal exhaust?

The main illegality is the noise coming from it. Now if you're talking about header replacement, just slap on what you want, but when it comes time to smog, you're really going to need to swap back in the stock unit. Or better yet, find some one who "knows" a guy for smog to overcome that problem.

Alright This is how its going to work...

If you get pulled over by a CHP/City Police, about your Loud *** Exhaust.

-Would they have any Proof saying that its over CA. State REG.
Cause I know for a fact the CHP's Or Police DO NOT CARRY DECIBLE METERS...!
thats the only way you can get your exhaust tested is by that...

I live in Fremont Ca. and I've Fought for my Tickets many times. So Slap whatever exhaust you have back on. And just Drive Normally, If Any of those damn *** PO PO pull you over. Just say " do you have any proof " " No reason why to written a ticket with out proof "

... Enjoy ppl and just Play it SAFE!

If you live in cali, move somewhere else. If you have a modified car, say goodbye. Either the theives take your car, or the police does.

**** I'll take Northern Cali weather over this humid bullshit in San Antonio anyday....even if it means stricter modification regulations.

honestly, its not as bad here in california as people make it seem.
sure, we have more strict laws about emissions and whatever stuff.
but lets all bond as americans and not bash on each others' states

Gee, here's a thought: Get a legal exhaust?

If you don't like that option, then here's your other one: Move to a different state.

OP what kind of exhaust do you have anyway. matter of fact, what kind of car do you own. it might just be quite enough to pass the ref.

Do you have any idea how long that is going to take effect? I'd expect to see all 50 fall under that scheme in then next decade. No matter, for us Cali cats, nothing changes.

I don't believe that is correct.

The President is raising the base standard for every state's emission laws, but also allowing and encouraging the state's to further raise their own standards.

The federal standard will still not be anywhere near California standard.

But we don't have anything to worry about...our cars get 30+mpg on the highway...(in 6th gear at 45mph, of course)
