whizzzzzzzzzzzzzingggg alternator
Ever since i got my car, b16 crx hf, the alternator seems to be pretty noisey. Its not noisy like the belt is loose, it makes just regular noise that other b16'ed vehicles dont. Its noisey. Its whiiizzzzzing. Does anyone know what im talking about.
It just now got pretty loose, I tightend it to the right tension, and its whizzing even worse now, in high RPM
Can anyone help me?

could be a bad bearing. take it off and take it to autozone and get it tested. if it makes noise on the test bench then you might need to replace the alternator.

Belt dressing is just some **** you spray on your belts, keeps them from slipping and stops the sqweaking, its like armorall for your belts I guess. Take off your alternator belt and try turning the alt by hand, if it turns freely put the belt back on start the car and take off the positive battery cable and if the car dosent die then I wouldnt worry about it.
Mine was doing the exact same thing. The bearings in the alternator are toast. You can either have it rebuilt ($40-$50) or buy another one. I got a 90 Integra LS alternator for $30, problem solved.

Yep, bolts and plugs right up. It was a tight fit with a 4th gen though. I had to unbolt my fuel rail to get the old one out and put the new one in. Other than that, no problems.

anyway get some belt dressing on there see if that quiets it down. also alternator winds could be corroded and grinding on the houseing
