Default How Do You Prevent Exhaust Manifold From Turning Colors?

I was wondering how do you stop a Chrome or Stainless Steel exhaust manifold from turning colors (mainly blue)?

You know when you spend your whole wad on that badass header/turbo exhaust manifold, and then when you put it on an after its running it likes to turn blue, or other colors an leave marks?... i was wondering what do i have to do to prevent my new peakboost exhaust manifold from turning blue or other colors?

I know alot if not all of it has to do with touching it? i received my peakboost manifold in plastic, an so far its in there so myself or nobody touch's it, but im sure somebody from peakboost touched it to put it in the bag, but when i put it on i am going to use clean gloves..but by any chance what do you reccomend to stop it from turning colors, im sure someone touched it form the factory, but can anybody reccomend a technique or some kind of cleaner that would be a good idea to clean the manifold off with after i put it on just incase someone from the factory touched it with bare hand?

this manifold is nice an expensive, i want to stay stainless steel an have the bare minimum discoloration if possible... thank you honda-tech i appreciate any positive input i can get...

Bro, I have had so many SS manifolds on different engines and they all turned rainbow on me. I was once told that running rich or lean causes this.

On my drag Banshee I sprayed some BBQ grill high temp paint inside the pipe's and that kept the chrome from discoloring but only lasted a little bit. I doubt that would work on a automotive app.

Just clean and polish it well before you install it, then after install give it a final wipedown with a lint free cloth. If u keep your hand oils off it u should be fine

C'mon man. That's part of the beauty of the material. But I doubt there is a way to prevent it. It' just heat cycling over time combined with some weathering. If you want it to not change, keep it stored indoors and don't run the engine. lol

I'd be more focused on keeping the flanges from rusting.

Yeah I would just get the manifold coated.

Is the manifold polished?

I like the tarnished look personally. I dont think there is a thing you can do to prevent it besides having it coated, which will change the color of it anyways

i like the look of them when they get heat tarnished but its a totally different thing when you have a patchy manifold, it just ends up looking manky and horible. As said just make sure theres no skin oils on it before you run it, and dont let anybody touch it haha!

I like the goldenhue. Like stated keep it clean during install, polish and wipe clean with lint free, then start up and watch the rainbow start. I love it. On pieces that I know I ams not selling....period I take my own fingerprint and place it on the number one runner, its mine, I installed it and I was there when it first ran and it also serves as ID. on your parts if jacked I know its weird but.
