Whats the best motor for the money in an EK??? ...Hybrid owners opinions...
My friend has a 99 Civic hatch, and looking to get a motor, he is deciding between an LS motor or an Si motor.......Would a GSR motor be worth it???? but if he doesnt have the cash for it, what would be better LS or Si????
Thanks guys!!!!!!!
Thanks guys!!!!!!!
gsr is worth it
the LS motor will get you off the line faster
the SI motor will get you down the track faster
the GSR motor will beat both.

nuff said? It all depends what you are doing with your car. If you only go to a strip...the gsr would be best if your going NA cause of Torque. Ls wouldnt be bad if your goin FI but strip would be worthless NA. B16 Would be best on a track/road racing b/c of weight...but on a strip it would be pointless NA!>>>but better than LS IMO again cause of weight
95civiccoupe31 said it the best......every engine will have its bennefits. Think about what you want to do with the car, and then from there you can think about what engine you will want, and what type of setup to do....
GSR's are not the only good engine

GSR's ARE NOT the only good engine...but it's all how you drive...but that's another post for another day...just pick out what you wanna do with your car and go from there...you want torque brotha>>>>buy a stang you want 200whp from a 1.6-1.8 4cyl NA motor >>> LS/Vtec....Built B16....Built Gsr...Built ITR/CTR...Built LS <<<<Good luck w/o FI
Only smart for the strip since you will be leavin corvettes!! Just not an overly novel idea for the track IMO Oh yeah ....and "for the money" doesnt make sense considering a decent motor w/o too many problems will cost you either way! And i don't believe in putting **** parts on your car considering it's YOUR life at risk on the road/track... not to mention any names>>>ractive....sleeve coilovers....APC...you know who you are and what i am talking about....might as well buy the best you can buy cause there are a lot of **** manufacturers out there....not saying buy SPOON and mugen everything!

The reason I say GSR for the money is because:
1)More HP & More Torque than B16 for a few bucks more.
2)Alot LESS money than an ITR motor and in time you can build it BETTER than an ITR motor.
3)More reliable than B20 & LS/VTEC. I'm not saying that they cannot be a good motor, I am JUST saying that they are not AS reliable.
4)Better handling and less fabrication than an H22.
This is just my view on this, not necessarily fact.

Prelude motor
no reason..i just like it! i would sell my b16 w/ the turbo setup for a complete h22 changeover.

I'd say bang for the buck is an ITR swap. LSD, much better head/cams than a GSR, better NA gearing, higher compression, etc.
You will be going down the 1320 much quicker in an ITR setup than a GSR. Pay a little more, get a helluva lot more.

For the strip...not track....too heavy
ek`s are heavy, they need torque. I would never put a b16 in an ek. I`d drive around single cam an extra 6 months if I had to. Might as well do it right the 1st time.

The way i see it is for the strip go B20 vtec...for the track depending on car (hatch or coupe civics) go B16...i doubt the blocks of all b series engines weigh the same. Oh yeah if you really wanna be exclusive...go 2.3 block from 93 si non-vtec... and slap a h22a head on that bitch! Or if you really really wanna be a stunna...go the new k24a1<<<probably wrong....from the new crv and slap a rsx type s head on that thing! Can we say 11's??
