Coilpack or Ignition Module? Help Please!
We have an '89 model 160i SOHC EF that has come up with a bit of an issue as of late. Intermitently, the car would not start after long drives and would need to park for 20min or so and then there would be no problem. Last week, while idling at a set of lights, the car cut off & would not start for the next 15min. Took it home and the following morning still had no luck starting the car. I thought that it might be the alarm or immobiliser causing the issue of not getting any spark, so I towed it in to a fitment centre and all was checked and came back "OK". I've now towed it back home and can only come to the conclusion that either the coilpack or ignition module have given up....
My question is:
What would be more likely the case here, the coilpack or the ignition module?
Thanks

Problem has been sorted out now. Decided to buy both the coil & module and get it done once. Car runs like a champion again
Most likely was the "ignition module" aka ignitor... I've replaced 20+ of those over my years of working on hondas... still haven't had to replace a coil.
