Just thought I would put a warning out there so that evryone stays on a look out for stolen interiors parts for my baby!

My S2k was broken into on th 1st of May in my apt complex in North Phoenix!!!

Everything was taken seats steering wheel shift **** gauge assembly....

They sliced my top and just helped themselves to my whole interior!!

I ****en hate thieves!

Now my insurance is given me the biggest run around!!!!
At least it seems like they will not total my vehicle....

 

We'll all be able to recognize your interior parts from the information you gave us.

Well the reason i didnt describe it is that it was clean!!

No rips or tears absoultely MINT!

They were black 01 Leather seats....Everything else is exactly the same as any other S2k

I almost wish the seats were worn in some way so that they could be described!

Is it normal for an insurance company to request a full financial record, criminal, credit etc...??

I never have made a claim I am a good driver and have awesome credit...??? NO criminal background whatsoever...

I just find it to be an insult for them to be looking at me as a potential suspect!

Anyone else gone through this?

 

If I had to guess they're doing an investigation as a precaution. S2k's are known for being broken into and I'd say that your insurance company as well as others have had that select few that will slash they're own top and gut the interior just to get an insurance check. If you have nothing to worry about like you say just work with them and don't worry about it. Probably just them being cautious so they don't get in trouble.

 

check craigslist.. your parts will probably show up on it shortly..

 

what insurance company do you have? progressive totaled my car with similar damage to what you're describing. insurance companies don't want to fix S2000's, too much liability on their part.

Well here is an update:


Still have not gotten anything resolved!! They have given me the biggest runaround! Obviously they looked at me as a primary suspect which is an insult!!! But then again I am sure insurance company do not have any moral values....Going on 22 days now!!! AHhhh!

They tried to say i did not have insurable interest in the vehicle!!! WTF! I proved them wron g there....long story! NOw its in a diff dept waiting to take who knows how long....

they want to "fix" my vehicle with recycled/remanufactured parts!! HELL NO!!! If they use all these parts of lesser quality which i will not allow they will not total the vehicle and it will cost 7800 "initial estimate" if they find used seats....

I HATE ALLSTATE!!!!

if they total your car, you'll have to buy it back at the price the wholesalers are willing to pay for the car. Don't expect for them to cut you a check for retail value then buy it back at 10-15% because I don't think that'll happen.

If you intend to keep the car, it's in your favor to have them fix the car for you.

 

I wouldnt say all insurance companies suck.. I have USAA and it only a week to get my money after they totaled my 00 prelude. On the other hand, it may be different on a s2k... correct me if im wrong but I heard the seats are 2 grand a piece at honda.

I had a clean "EK" before I could even register it someone stole and stripped it. Mostly stock except wheels/coilovers/lips. USAA goes by what they say is Market Value of the car. I didn't get jack **** for what I bought it for. Not even half. I was pissed.

 

exactly, they don't give a crap about you, they just want to do whatever is the best for them financially. they don't want to cover S2000's, progressive paid out $19,500 cash even after my deductible for my S2000. they could have fixed it for less than that but they chose to total it and get some money back at the auction instead of fixing it even though that's what I wanted. especially when the airbag is missing, they don't want the liability of fixing the airbag.

 

the seats are almost $6,000 from the dealer, retarded. the top fabric is about $1,000. the insurance company quotes all the MSRP prices when they want to total a car out to get the price higher, ***s.

 

^ yep which is why they would rather give you used/refurbed parts rather than buying you brand new placement stuff or even fixing it at all. Its not in their best interest to do their job for you when it cost them all that $$$

op, the reason the insurance co wants all the info on you is most likely to investigate for insurance fraud. it's easy to remove the parts yourself, file a claim, and put the parts back in once you get the insurance check.
