Well I took the plunge. I'll post the whole road of my experience later. My car was all rusted out. I replaced the inner and outer quarters and the drivers front door. All I need to do now is wet sand and buff. I'm really worried that the orange peel won't come out. I sprayed a higher build sealer, and I didn't sand before base coat and clear, so yeah.... I'll type up more later and my mirrors and sideskirts will be cure today. I really learned a lot through the whole process and I did all the work myself with the exception of a little of the spraying (I had no mask).

I went cheap since I was spraying the whole car and not just color matching
Epoxy Primer Sealer $70 quart with activator
Omni Base for about $60 a quart plus reducer
I bought the primer and base at my local finish master store.
Napa Crossfire Clear which was $60 for a gallon including hardener
Total came out to only $290 I believe for paint. Then there is paper, bondo, seam sealer, fiberglass filler, welding supplies etc. I spent a lot more than that on my own car though. I put almost $300 into new panels including both quarters, new door, hood, and bumper.

Yeah, Does anyone want me to make a write-up or post my pics on what I did?
I replaced the quarter panels, patched inner quarters, only 2 panels on my car were straight, patched door frame around window, block sanded, etc.... There was a hole so big in my quarter I could stick my arm in it lol. I sprayed my rims and refinished my trunk as well.
For those who can't tell this is a budget build lol

Great, i'm glad you decided to shoot real paint. Looks good from just the few pictures. Would love to see more. if the orange peel doesn't come out, then you could always add more clear later, and then sand more.
yea, great job. would like to see a write up.
But i always recommend sand the primer smooth before laying down the base. Yes u can wet sand and polish the clear coat. But if u spraying light color, u can still seeing the orange peel on the base coat even the clear looks and feels smooth.

For clear I sprayed a dust coat and then 3 wet coats.
Base I sprayed 3 as well. I made a mistake and only sprayed my bumper twice though.b
Shoot, I should have sanded the whole car it sounds like. Hopefully wetsanding and buffing will get rid of the majority of the orange peel.
Yeah I just painted it in my garage. I hung plastic up on all the walls and ceiling. I actually sprayed with the door open since my garage is too small.
Do you guys think the paint will still look peely after wetsanding?

ok well a few things. A sealer does not have to be wetsanded before you shoot the base. But if you sprayed a high fill primer it def has to be. In all actuality a sealer is just a thinned out primer. So you need to tell me if you actually shot thinned down high fill primer or just primer sealer. There is a dif lol. If you shot high fill primer sealer your going to have vast amounts of orange peel, due to the fact the base wasnt even smooth. You can wetsand to get the car smooth but when looking at it straight on you will see the uneveness in the base through the now flat clear. Its tricky man. Also if you didnt put boat loads of clear on your going to burn through into the color.
