Default Shaved side moldings..

This is basically a pic request and I hope I get it before the thread is locked...

My big dispute here is...do I buy new moldings...or do I weld up my holes and then leave the indent on the side? Or do I flush the indent with fiberglass...

Does anyone have a picture of a FILLED in side molding? I can't find one at all...Someone here has an EX sedan that is blue that has shaved side moldings AND handles...but I want to see a picture with handles..cause with shaved handles it kinda looked wack.

i wouldn't recommend filling them in. over time the door closing shut will cause it to crack. i know its fiber glass, but still its not as strong as metal is. i would personally keep the molding on there, or just replace with new.

i don't like that either. the molding on the doors is gone, but the molding is molded in on the bumpers'. it doesn't look uniform.

hmm, I can't remember where I saw it, but there was a thread where someone posted their EF and it had CX/VX style moldings (in other words, it has the indent but no actual moldings). I thought it looked kinda cool.

But IMO, the groovy moldings are where it's at. I really want to replace my 90/91 moldings with those.

My car looks perfectly fine with shaved moldings. You decide for yourself minus all that rice above.

there again, its not uniform. the front and rear have molding, the sides don't. it doesn't look quite right. looks better than that red ef though.

not a EX sedan but same concept, welded metal plates behind the holes on the inside, filled with body filler, sand, metal glaze, sand, primer.

moldings are never sexy, except on HT, where rustoleum is sexy

IMO shaved side moldings are bad news, if you leave th eindent that doesnt look bad at all, but I highly highly recomend welding the holes, as glass will come back out on you over time. Previous owner of my EK shaved them, and they cracked, so I had the horrible task of un-shaving it lol, not fun!
