Default Electrical issue with guage cluster after taking out dash

So I ended up taking the Dash out of my 91 EF sedan because of a water leak. Got that fixed, it was leaking in through the fresh air vent. Anyways, I'm putting everything back together and now the guage cluster has a strange problem with it seams like a ground or something shorting. The problem is the CEL light is always on (but dim) until you put the key in and turn it on the it glows like normal. But none of the other guage lights ever come on. Now another weird thing is turning on the headlights makes the CEL go off. And thirdly turning on the wipers makes the temp. guage go sky high. It's obvious I got a grounding issue or something shorting somewhere though I just can't figure out where. I remembered to put the groun back on the one that's behind the ignition. any ideas? Thanks.

update: Ok basically everything in the interior that uses electricity is affected. I pulled the fuse for the dash lights and the CEL still stays on but dimly, pushing the hazards button makes the speakers pop, and using the blinkers makes the CEL turn off. I'm really thinking there's a screwy ground but can't find it. I dissconnected both interrior dash grounds I could find and it didn't even change anything, so I put them back on and it doesn't change anything. this really sucks without having the wiring diagrams I'm just shooting in the dark. All the interior electricals are finding alternate route of completing the circuit and not the way they're suppose to. Can anyone give me all the locations of the interior grounds please? Could it be a faulty relay? Thanks for any help...

Im not sure if this will forsure help for the sedan but this happen to me awhile back when I swapped my hacked hatch si dash harness for a mint uncut one! There are two plugs that are similar but they are two different colors one plugs into the fuse box which on mine is blue and one to a plug on the side which is the creamish color. The plugs are coming from the cluster/radio harness. This made everything on my car go crazy in basically the same manner as your saying.

Wow thanks prettymicky for the help. That's exactly what it was. those 2 connectors going to the fuse box underneath the dash were swtiched, and they had the same number of pins. Switched em around and everything's back as it should be! next time I'll have to remember the little things like that. Hope this helps people in the future.

when did your problem occur??? did you switch any of the wiring out or add something into it??.. and when you take the dash off Im pretty sure the cluster/radio harness has to come off as well. as it did on mine the first time I switched it.!
