Default Speedo cable refurbishing?

Does anyone know if there is a way to, "refurbish", the speedo cable. Mines is all hoppy/jumpy, and and I was wondering if there was a way to fix it without replacing it?

I know, but with all the other things I am doing/wanting for my car. Thirty bucks is thirty bucks.

yea... these things are not really designed to be refurbished. and even if you could, it would probably cost more to try and fix one then just purchasing a new one.

Would just pulling the cable out and lubing it help?

i know people have done this, and it sometimes works for a little while. however, it's only a temporary fix at best.

Mine was jumping at speeds below 40 MPH so tried to lube it but it made no difference.

I tried the junk yard and pulled a cable from a civic sedan for 5 bucks. It lasted a week and broke.

Put a brand new cable in this afternoon. All is well!

I'd just buy a new one if I had to do it all over again.
