AC problems
Hey guys, my girls ac in her EF has not worked for sometime. They said it doesnt need a recharge but it might be something else.
1. is there a way to test the compressor?
2. is there a fuse under the steering wheel that could control the whole ac system?
3. should i check the ac belt to make sure its running?
4.has anyone else had any problems?
5. do any other civic ac compressors fit or work in a 91 dx?
6. do i have to upgrade to a new recharge kit r154 or something?
thanks for the help guys.

deinitely check your fuses before anything else. check the ones in the engine bay as well as under the dash.
Hook the one wire from the compressor to + on the battery. you should hear the clutch engage. Plug the compressor back in normally and run the engine. Press the switch on the climate control and listen for the clutch engagement under the hood.
Most likely you won't hear it because it isn't engaging.
Look on the A/C lines on the passenger side of the car. You will find a sensor mounted to one of the lines. Disconnect the sensor and short the wiring harness connector with a paperclip. Again, start the car and listen, press the A/C button, and listen for the clutch click.
If you get the clutch to work with the paperclip, but not when it's hooked up correctly to the pressure sensor, then you are either low on refrigerant OR the pressure senro is faulty.
Post back with results - there's more to the system.

Lot of possibilities but with the switch lamp not lighting, I would strongly consider pulling the climate control unit yada and checking the soldered joints for continuity. Here's a writeup for 92-95 Civics: http://honda.lioness.googlepages.com/airconditioning
