I have a 91 hatch its a std model i swaped a sohc zc in there, everything was good till bout last month my tail lights,dashlights,license plate lights didnt work and the fuse kept blowing out. So i paid my buddy to find the short he did. now my turn signals,gas guage,rpms,and temp guage dont work.i really need it fixed,any suggestions to figure it out??
also i have tried changing the cluster.didnt help.

 

In my car the temperature gauge and the turn signals are all tied to the same fuse. Which must be the one you are talking about. I was having intermittent problems with my right turn signal and it kept blowing the fuse. There was dirt and all kinds of stuff packed into my front turn signal so I cleaned it out.

I would check all of the fuses.

My question to you: Is the short really fixed?

 

i checked all fuses! no blown fuses. lol no its obviously not.if its not one thing its the other.It might have been that when the tail lights shorted the wires melted other around it....possibly.running out of theory's! for now im just counting my miles!


also my car doesnt start on the first crank! what could it be? spark plugs?
and is it bad to remove fuel filter and direct connect the hose onto the fuel rail?:
the guys a inline told me that it was better?

 

do your gauges flutter and dim when you hit the brake pedal ever? check your alternator. i had a problem similar to yours when my alternator was going out.
