Short Ram Intake?
I need a short ram intake for my 97 civic ex. I use to have a rs akimoto short ram that I really liked, but I know they've gone out of business since then, so I need to find a new intake. Please post your suggestions and reasons why you like the intake. Thanks

-Password jdm carbon fiber intake. Looks nice when you pop open your hood. $179 NEW
-Aem Short ram intake-CARB legal, quality intake and superb filter. $140 NEW
-K&N intake-CARB Legal, Best filter on the market and comes with heat shield. $150-180 NEW.
those are just my suggestions. But Injen and and comptech are also very good. depends on your budget and what your trying to get out of it. OR you can just make your own filter with plastic pipes and a quality filter.

This is kind of embarassing but I'm just using a generic short ram on by B16 that I got for free from someone, and I think it's from Autozone, but it's painted black and looks clean, and it even bolts into one of the holes where the factory airbox was so it stays put. It makes power, it sounds amazing, works for me! I still have the EG6 intake in case I feel like rocking stock for a weekend also.
But this route works and it's way cheaper than AEM, although, if you have to pass emissions you'll need one with a CARB stickers.
There is a huge debate about the high priced intakes being better because they do actual R&D for their products. The real issue with intakes is the tube diameter, length, and filter element. I would buy a more expensive one if I didn't get this for free. Now that I have it, there's no point in paying $200-300 for 1 more whp if even that.

Thanks, I was actually looking at the Injen IS1555P, do you know anything about that one?
Also, I just looked at that Password jdm one, any idea how that one sounds?

I've got a AEM short ram I got off of Ebay for $40, it does its job. I wouldn't however go and spend $150-200 on a tube with a filter. For that much you can make a custom one with bigger diameter tubing as well as a decent filter( AEM, K&N, inset name here). With the custom one you might end up getting better gains/response.
i honestly don't know anything about the Injen's sound in particular. but the password jdm sounds awesome. the thing is, the filter on the password jdm is not that good. im thinkin MAYBE you could switch out the password jdm filter with a round k&n filter and that should do the job.
i have a short ram AEM intake pipe that i bought from advance (here they keep them in stock for $100) but my friend took my filter. lol its a polished pipe...i will sell it to you. lol pm me if interested.
