can you manualy close the latch with a screw driver? If you can, it is an allignment or spacing issue. If it doesnt latch, try removing the rear access panel (reverse light cover) and you can see the mechanism. Make sure the exterior key release isnt binding, or the cable release isnt causing problems.

I added weather strips around the trunk edge and used electrical tape to wrap around u-shape latch and that took care of my rattle and noise from the rear.

The dash and the doors, that's another nightmare!

So you put the weather strips around the edge where the plastic is, or where the trunk closes? I'm going to take a look at it today and see if i can fix the latch with electrical tape. Did you wrap it inside the latch? Or around it?

My latch doesn't close as well...but for mine it was broken. If you look at the locking piece, it's metal with a plastic tip. Well, that plastic tip just broke off after years of use. Check to see if that's your problem as well.

I have no problem with closing my hatch or the locking mechanism itself. Its just every time i go over a bump in the road or uneven surface it rattles. Its lowered

I'm thinking about wraping electrical tape around the U shaped metal piece located on the hatch that clips into the latch. That should cause less vibration and reduce the noise. hopefully.

i can vouch for the electrical tape.
for some reason... it won't open with a key now. only the lever inside the car. wtf?
still rattles... but it is better than before. i think someone should make a DIY: Soundproofing the CRX.
