Default Any Cons to installing Injen SRI into 02 stock type s?

What's up people? I bought an 02 S stock just over a month ago. I got an injen SRI for free from my cousin because he went boost. I'm wondering if there are any adverse effects of me installing the intake..such as lower mileage? winter etc? lemme know.

Short ram is short ram... it makes more noise but not as effective for power as CAI. It heat soaks in the engine bay but fills the big whole left by the stock airbox being taken out.

Imo short ram sucks. I made the mistake myself of getting a shortram intake and im regreting it. All the heat that builds in the engine bay gets sucked straight into the short ram. I only notice a difference from the short ram when I first start my car and the engines cold. Soon as it warms up I loose power.

Welcome to the world of K-series

Short ram intake will actually improve your MPG. Go for it!

Thanks for the input so far guys. I got it for free...If I was going to buy one I'd most likely get a CAI.

I remember somebody said that on some thread on CRSX a while back...that SRI's and CAI's actually improve your MPG. More air flowing to the engine = better = more mpg?

not really mostly if you change your filter you will notice a differents in MPG... the problem I have with the CAI and SRI is the lost of throttle response! That is why I went with the Hondata airbox mod... I gained a little sound and a little extra hp and tq. Oh yes and it was free!

You gained sound? On the hondata site they said they didn't notice an increase in induction noise. Sounds like a good mod...but one has to be careful not to ***** up their airbox when cutting. What did you use to make the large cuts on yours? Also, did you change your filter or continued using stock? The more research I do it seems to be telling me that I'm going to have losses from installing the SRI since it sucks up hot engine bay air. My question is...will it perform better than the stock airbox?

I used a dremel... I had my friend help me out with it as he is use to using it. Sound yes there was a bit more induction noise, obviously not like a SRI or CAI but a little more the when it was stock.

I did change the filter I used the K&N filter Hondata used.

What you are going to notice is your throttle response is not the same anymore... why do you think in nearly all racing series they all use modified airboxes its because you gain power with out sacrificing throttle response!

I'm happy with it and plus it was free so I can spend my money on something more important like tires, suspension and brakes!

Thanks for the advice.I think i'm going to do the hondata airbox mod, get a decent drop in filter and sell the injen SRI.
