Default whats a good Ebay turbo kit for B-series

ok, im not planing on spending lots of money for a turbo kit, so im looking at Ebay turbo kits, I know of the back that they arent so good and I personally don't like em myself, but I dont want to pay 2000+ for a brand name turbo kit because if something goes wrong with it i'll be really disapointed, so i wanna shoot for something cheap under 1000 from ebay, so if it freaken blows i wouldn't really care. The set-up is a bone stock LSvtec in a EG, looking for a kit to make around the 300hp range, im not trying to make a fast car out of it, i just want a fun to drive car with lots of torque and high end power to just smash on when i feel like i want some fun! I've been looking on ebay and just dont know which one of those freaken turbo kits to go with lol. oh btw i dont like the SS tubing turbo manifolds they tend to crack, looking for a cast manifold type, yeah them ulgy looking piece of *****!! hahaha

thanks

Really your going to get **** for results with a ebay turbo kit. especally for under a grand. Why not just find a used greddy set up? My friend bought a turbo 2 years ago for his dsm and it had major boost leak around the turbo shaft and seals. I would'nt recomend it. You get what you pay for and why mess with something with no time in to it they just throw stuff together.

Do not go ebay turbo kits... go for used brand name turbo kits... that's what I got for 1080 shipped.

turbonetics t3 t4 57 trim .63 a/r
drag intercooler
greddy BOV
fake tial wastegate - only really bad peice but will still work.
drag manifold
all oil lines and piping.

Pretty much all I need to get it up and going. I have it all built but still gotta hook up gauges and little things before I can get it on the dyno and get some results.

Try to find a used blox manifold they are better then the drag manifold and I found mine for 100 bucks used. Lifetime warranty against cracks. The turbo itself can be found for about 150dollars. An the piping and wastegate aren't that expensive. Not sure price on intercooler either though.

you would have more fun spending your money on drugs then an ebay turbo kit.

Its best to purchase a used GOOD name brand turbo setup than brand new crappy parts. Its like buying Used Snap On tools vs brand new harbor freight tools. In the long term, the used ones are much better quality and build. The new cheaper stuff may work in light duty use, but in the long term, its going to have problems and possibly even break.

I sold an old 600hp setup we had off one of the cars we had for $1400.00 that was intercooler, PRecision Turbo, equal length manifold, etc. New at the time would have cost over $3000.00 The guy that installed it used it succesfully and made 400hp for his street car.
Look for used kits in here. There's plenty of good setups being sold on HT on a daily basis.

my plan is to run the cheap turbo til it blows, then switch to a garrett 57 trim turbo.

He's a local here in dallas... him and all of his buddies run nothing but ebay turbo kits and this is a bone stock B16 motor. If you can find a turbo kit on ebay that has a cast manifold that's gonna be your best bet.

I never understood that reasoning. Maybe its because i'm old school and learned alot from our mistakes in the past. but In my opinion, do it right the first time so no need to fix later on.
Those were our mistakes back in the day. We put cheap parts and ended up having to redo them again later. In the end it costs more than it should have been.

I never understood this "cheap kit 'til it blows' argument. such a waste of time effort, materials, and an engine just in an effort to be cheap. The above example is by far an exception and not the rule. He should ask the owners how much refab they had to do when running 10's in the e-bay kit.

Do it once, do it right.. Even better used parts will work more than that e-bay ****.

Maybe I'm just too old school, too.

It can be done complete with ok stuff for that HP range but dont just buy a ebay "KIT" piece it together.

But in the end and after awhile you will end up replacing everythign for the most part with real parts "name brand"

Used brand name parts will get the job done for around $1000.

Name brands the first time will save you money in the long run. Many people dont believe this, but when they take "their route" and look back on it later, they realize how much needless money they spent. Case and point, my buddy Casey. He bought an SSAC turbo kit for much the same reason as you...it fell apart and then he had to buy all good parts to replace it. If he would have just purchased the IC piping and IC from the start, like i told him, he would still have a setup AND an engine. (the wastegate allowed him to overboost and KABOOM.) Then to get his car working, he parted out his turbo setup to buy an engine. He lost a lot in the process....like $2k+ with NOTHING to show for it

so... you want to do this until it goes... but you realize you might take out more than just the turbo or components in the process??

why don't you poke around the FI classifieds and get yourself a good deal... often times there are greddy kits for cheap, which would be much, much safer than any ebay crap..

u kno maybe u guys are right, so far i have thought about this,

Blox turbo cast manifold- aint the best but it's got lifetime warrantee against cracking
Garrett 57 trim turbo
3 inch DP from Spooling Performance
38mm tial or turbo smart wastegate
greddy BOV or maybe tial
RC 770cc injectors- thats what i have already
255 walbro pump
and I need opinion on the intercooler.

so what u guys think? I think if i shop around maybe i can do this for less than 1500??

P.s you need a 5 bolt housing for the garret 57 unless you plan to do a non AC configuration

Another good resource for you, since you're on a tight budget, is www.realhomemadeturbo.com . Those guys build nice setups for the most ridiculously low prices...

you ever had a turbo blow its not just a blow up and replace other **** breaks and blows up to its like a IED going off underneath your hood. Alot more money then just a new turbo.

1st link is a complete dud, as the seller seems "unreasonable", and i believe displays behavior of a person in receipt of "suspect" property, only because he has no idea what he is selling.

2nd link is BEST WAY TO DO IT, staying away from E-bay

3rd Link isn't bad either, and you can grow with the kit by replacing minimal parts.

I just wanted to provide some idea that there were "non-ebay" ways to go. I wasn't necessarily endorsing the sellers
